Artist Bio



Danny Alexander was born in Cobb County, Georgia August 10, 1951.
He grew up on a farm in Paulding County, Georgia.

He began his career early completing his first oil paintings at the age of nine.
While in his teens Alexander studied with the late John Brooks.
From 1970 to 1972 he continued his studies with Thomson Salter
at Kennesaw State University, and later at Georgia State University.

Alexander's work has been included in significant exhibitions in the United States,
including several New York exhibitions with a solo exhibit
at the prestigious Viridian Gallery on 57th Street.

Danny Alexander has won numerous awards. Among them is the
T.H. Saunders/Bockingford Watercolor Competition in which his work was
a top choice competing with three thousand entries from England, the United States, and Canada
As a result his work was included in an important exhibition at the Salmaqundi Club in New York City.
His most recent honor was being named "Artist of the year 2000" by the Georgia Citizens for the Arts.

Exhibiting internationally Alexander was part of a group of
American Artists touring several German galleries and museums.
He was highly praised in German publications for his ability to give
"new directions" and was called the "high point" of the touring show
. His work was described as having "piercing poetic reality."

Danny Alexander's work has ranged from early still lifes and landscapes to
later near-abstractions and experimenting with surrealism.
His latest work attempts to convey a sincerity from within himself to the viewer.
